Description

Moms Mental Health Initiative's flagship event, the annual Friends and Family Picnic, is our biggest gathering and fundraiser of the year. We invite our online community of moms, their families, and all of our supporters to gather, celebrate the strength of our network, and raise funds to support MMHI’s work helping moms in Southeast Wisconsin. MMHI runs an online peer-driven support group for moms navigating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders called Circle of Hope (COH). COH currently has over 400 members made up of moms living in the Southeast Wisconsin area, some of whom are recovered but stay to support the newer moms. The Friends and Family Picnic is an opportunity for those who mostly interact online to see each other in person, for the people we support to gather with the MMHI staff and board, and for families to meet and develop a sense of community. This family-friendly event will offer games and activities for kids of all ages, a baby play and nursing area, free coffee and refreshments, and a raffle fundraiser.

One in five women suffer from postpartum depression or another perinatal mood or anxiety disorder. In low socioeconomic communities, the number rises to 1 in 4. MMHI is a nonprofit organization in Southeastern Wisconsin dedicated to helping moms navigate perinatal mood and anxiety disorders by sharing information, connecting them to resources, including evidence-based treatment options, and providing peer-driven support.
