Mocktails and Merriment Annual Fundraiser
Other Event Type for North River Prevention PartnersApr 25, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM
Mikeal Steele was a 17-year-old Parrish Community High School student when he was killed by a drunk driver in Ellenton, FL on October 25, 2020. Mikeal’s mother described him as “...such an amazing kid...he was nice. He would help anybody. He just went out of his way to be that extra special kid...” He is missed by his family and friends every day.
Mikeal’s death was 100% preventable and North River Prevention Partners’ (NRPP) youth ambassadors, the North River Youth Coalition (NRYC), are working to bring awareness and provide resources for our community to prevent drunk and drugged driving.
NRYC are teens from local high schools who embody the qualities that made Mikeal so special: they are role models and strive to inform their peers of the dangers of alcohol and other drugs while serving their community. With Mikeal’s family’s blessing, NRPP awards the Mikeal Steele Memorial Scholarship to graduating NRYC members who have actively served in their ambassador role for at least two consecutive years and given of themselves to make this community better.
