Description

The Interact Club at Washington Township High School is a volunteer student-run service organization sponsored by Rotary Club International.  Throughout the year, we put together such events as the annual Pacesetters Dance and Festival of Friends, both for people with developmental disabilities.  We also work on year long projects such as coat drives, Christmas baskets for needy families, and park clean-ups just to name a few.  There is no shortage of opportunities to help in the community, and an equally limitless supply of enthusiasm and energy in our club. Interact is the largest club at Washington Township High School with over 300 hardworking, dedicated members; we put in many hours after school to ensure the success of Interact projects and events.

While there is no lack of enthusiasm for the club, Interact does lack funding.  There is frequently a shortage of financial resources to help fund our worthy projects.  Although Interact is sponsored by Rotary, our resources do not meet the demands of the large number of events we run.  As a result, we can continue our services only through fundraising and donations.  This is where you come in.

The next large Interact event is the sixteenth annual dance-a-thon, “Monzo Madness” on Friday, May17thth to raise money for the ALS Association (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease).  All the proceeds will go to the ALS Association. Over the course of this annual event, we have raised over $250,000 and hope to continue this with your help. Students will pledge for their participation in the dance and will dance on the high school fields from 3pm until 11pm with 10-minute breaks every hour.  To make this event successful, we are asking you to please consider donating anything you can. Most importantly, we need food and water! Gift cards are also highly appreciated as prizes to acknowledge students who survive dancing for 8 hours after a full day of school!  We are anticipating a turnout of around 400 students and each participant will need dinner and snacks. Such things as small water bottles and non-perishable food items are much needed. Please consider donating anything that your business can afford!

If you would like to donate, Interact will advertise for your business at the dance-a-thon and at future events.  If you have any questions, please contact Interact advisors Shera Jahn at sjahn@wtps.org or Kevin MacNamara at kmacnamara@wtps.org  Your support is deeply appreciated; without it Interact Club would not be able to reach out to as many people as we do. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
