Description

As a fellow member of the Cambridgeport community, we know how important it is to support each other’s efforts. We also know how difficult it is to find ways to execute hyperlocal marketing. However, when the stars align to accomplish both at once, it is amazing!

Friends of the Morse School (FMS) is a volunteer organization of parents, caregivers, and teachers supporting the Morse Elementary School (more about the school below). We organize events, provide volunteers and funding for activities, and fundraise in order to support our goals of fostering community, supporting the educational experience, and celebrating diversity.

We invite you to support our local school community by donating goods or services to our Spring Fair, Silent Auction, and Raffle planned for May 2023. Just like many small organizations, we are working hard to re-create big community building events that are inclusive and equitable. The Spring fair is one of our most popular event and highly attended.

Here comes the hard sell. Why should you donate goods and services to the FMS Spring Fair?

1)      We would be ever so grateful. ❤️

2)     Proceeds benefit local Cambridge(port) students and families through FMS activities and events like purchasing targeted reading level books and math games that at-risk children can take home ,subsidizing field trips, orienteering training for fifth graders, underwriting our annual International Festival (potluck dinner, games, crafts and sports that celebrates the cultural diversity of the Morse community), purchasing sensory and occupational therapy equipment, sponsoring the annual school art show at Gallery 263, paying for family movie nights open to the Cambridge community, and much more!

3)     Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law since we are a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 27-1703743).

4)    Free(ish) hyperlocal marketing! Donors and sponsors will be featured in social media posts (@FriendsoftheMorseSchool on Facebook and Instagram), our membership newsletter, flyers, invitations, and various listservs to the Morse School families and the Cambridge community.

5)    Donations often pay dividends to their contributors: for example, season theater ticket winners became repeat subscribers, event passes led to booked birthday parties, and restaurant gift certificate winners celebrated their good fortune by dining out with family and friends.

The Morse Elementary School - located practically on Memorial Drive near the historical Shell sign, Trader Joe’s, and Microcenter - is a JK–5 public elementary school that educates more than 300 children. Morse also hosts City of Cambridge Special Start, preschool, afterschool, and community school programs.

If you can assist, please send your donation to the address above by April 30, 2023 or contact me for a pick up.
