Description

The Fall Festival is our school's first big fundraiser event for the school year and is a wonderful community and family event. Fundraising is done through ticket/wristband sales, concession sales, and a silent auction which will also be accessible online to expand exposure. Admission to the festival is free to our students and there are many attractions and entertainment that is also free and sponsored by the PTA.

Murdock PTA supports programs, activities, and services throughout the school year to enhance student learning and support parent involvement. This is a list of current PTA programs run by volunteers and funded through PTA fundraisers, sponsorships, and donations.

  • Accelerated Reader Program (AR)Our teachers use AR to manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice through online books and short quizes after the book is finished. AR gives children, teachers, and librarians feedback based on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help our students set goals and direct ongoing reading practice.
  • Art Education Program: The art program exposes all grade levels to artistic themes and concepts. Our parent volunteers generously donate their time to make this classroom program happen and the PTA provides the funds and supplies needed for each project. In the Spring, our Art in the Park event showcases these projects for our families to celebrate
  • Music Education Program: We have contracted with the Center for World Music for the 2022-2023 school year to bring music education to our students. Students will get the opportunity to exprience and explore music and dance from all over the world. We celebrate this program with a concert performance from our students and their instructors in the Spring
  • Garden Program: We support a garden club allowing students to learn, explore and enjoy the fruits of their labor while getting their hands dirty in our campus garden
  • Campus Enhancements (ie. water bottle filling stations, shade structure, and more!): During the 2022-2023 school year we are installing a 20' x 30' shade structure that will provide much needed shade to our students. We are also working towards the goal of adding a water bottle refill station to our lower field where most of our students have recess. Currently there are no functional water fountains on our field.
  • Run 4 Fun: We sponsor a morning run club that allows families to drop off students before the school gates officially open at 7:40am without having to pay for extended services or worrying about adult suprvisions. Kids get to run, walk or shuffle around our track while catching up with classmates while keeping track of laps and miles throughout the year
  • Field Trip Transportation: We provide bus transportation for each grade at our school to be able to attend an annual field trip, ensuring no students are left behind in these wonderful experiences
  • Giving Back to the Classrooms: We provide classroom funds to each teacher every year to help stock their classrooms with the supplies they need. We also offer a classroom grant program where teachers can request support for specific needs in their classrooms

Some of the events that we host throughout the school year to give back to our families and community include:

  • Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
  • Kindergarten/TK First Day Photos
  • Kindergarten/TK Orientation Welcome Goodies
  • Drive-In Movie
  • Art in the Park
