NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. We have affiliates all over the United States and we are the Southern Nevada affiliate. My position as the Community Resource Specialist includes gathering local resources and providing the knowledge to the callers who are looking for help locating housing, mental health services, legal assistance, etc. NAMI SNV offers free support groups to those with mental illness and their loved ones, free 8 week courses to help those affected have a better understanding of mental health concerns, and we provide free presentations at high schools.

We will be hosting a fundraiser on June 20, 2022 in order to raise funds that will continue to help reduce the stigma of mental illness and provide education/resources to our community. Unfortunately, the state of Nevada is currently at the bottom of the ranks in regards to higher prevalence of mental illness and lower rates of access to care (Mental Health America, 2021). Our team is working hard to change this and bring hope to our residents. Your generous donation would bring us closer to meeting our fundraiser goal.
