National Miner's Day
Other Event Type for World Museum of MiningDec 06, 2023 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Established in 2009, National Miner's Day acknowledges the Monongah mining disaster, the worst single loss-of-life event due to mining in American history when 362 coal miners lost their lives on December 6, 1907 in West Virginia.
World Museum of Mining honors National Miner's Day every December 6. This day is also an opportunity to reflect on how much miners provide to allow for our modern way of life.
The event includes dinner, trivia and a silent and live auction. All proceeds assist World Museum of Mining in meeting their mission to preserve the rich historical legacy of mining and the related culture of Butte, Montana, and the surrounding region and to promote the significant mining heritage by educating the public with a perspective toward total family interest.
