National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
Other Event Type for Waukesha County - Communications CenterApr 14, 2024 6:00 AM to Apr 20, 2024 11:30 PM
Who Are We? The Waukesha County Communications Center (WCC) is the largest Public Service Answering Point (PSAP) in Waukesha County.
What do we do? We answer 911 calls (wireless & landline) as well as non-emergency calls for 19 Police Departments/Sheriff & 20 Fire departments within Waukesha County.
Who are dispatchers? We are the FIRST, first responder. Dispatchers answer incoming calls for help & assistance, dispatching the appropriate officer, deputy, fire department, or ambulance response based on the information received.
“911, where is the address of your emergency?” Is a question that can be answered by a mother who is excitingly welcoming a new child into the world or by a family member who has just found their loved one injured or deceased. No matter the answer, our dispatchers are trained to handle emergency situations with compassion, confidence, providing childbirth, lifesaving CPR instructions, etc. until responders arrive on scene.
At times, it can be a job that goes unnoticed or often just overlooked. This year, we are asking for your help in thanking and applauding the important work the dispatchers of WCC (Waukesha County Communications Center) do every single day. The third week of April (April 14th-20th, 2024) has been set aside for National 911 Telecommunicators Week so we are asking this community to come together and join us in our celebration of our dispatchers.
Our week of celebration includes food, fun games, prizes, gift cards, and visits from the Police and Fire Departments that we dispatch for, along with members of our personal families. Please let us know how your business would like to support National Telecommunicators Week for Waukesha County Communications.
