The Friends of Troop 3 will be holding a Night at the Races fundraising event on Saturday, January 20, 2024. The Scouting program in Florence/Roebling provides an education for our boys and girls in leadership and community service. The Chartered Organization for Scouting in the Florence/Roebling community is the American Legion, Post 39 in Roebling. Scouts are taught to care for their community, to become good citizens and role models as they grow into young adults.

Proceeds from this Night at the Races will be used to subsidize Troop 3’s operating budget. There is considerable cost associated with running a fulfilling Scout program for our youth. Throughout the year, the Troop needs to outlay funds to purchase/maintain equipment for camping/hiking. The Troop also cover the cost of each Scouts’ awards, which is not insignificant. In addition, the cost of campouts and other special events for our Scouts are offset by fundraising efforts. All of this helps keep Scouts’ out of pocket costs as low as possible, which is critical to allowing as much youth participation as possible. Fundraising has been very difficult for the last few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are really hoping that our Night at the Races will be a big success! 100% of the profits from this event will go towards offsetting costs for the Scouting program.

We are asking for your help in making this event a success for our scouts through a monetary donation and/or a donation of items to provide prizes for those who attend the Night at the Races.  This is your opportunity to support an organization that is based on community service.  Everyone who attends the Night at the Races will receive a program containing advertisements for each business who donates items or a monetary donation.  This is a chance to show the community and the Scouts your support and encouragement.
