Description

Mission Statement:

Provide volunteer and financial support for the life changing programs and services of the Glendora Public Library, enabling citizens to live their best life.

Foundation Info:

The GPL Friends Foundation partners with the City of Glendora, to provide supplemental funding for the life changing programs and services of the Glendora Public Library. The Foundation provides financial support beyond the limits and constrains of the City budget, and supports programs that would not otherwise be available.

Some of the programs funded by the Friends Foundation include:

- Free books and other incentives which inspire more than 3,000 kids, teens and adults to read throughout the summer

- story time, after school homework help, teen advisory board and other programs to encourage reading for children, teens and young adults

- interactive cultural and special programs to encourage lifelong learning and community i.e. opera talks, author visits, guest speakers, mobile planetarium and more

- free one-on-one tutoring for adults learning to read; new books and other resources for the Library’s collection

-innovative and expanded online/mobile services i.e.

Event Info:

Your donation will be used as part of the auctions items available for our largest fundraiser of the year, Night on the Plaza, a gala with dinner, dancing and auctions. This is its 19th year and our goal is to raise $200,000 through dinner ticket purchases, sponsorships, and silent/live auction packages. This is a popular community event with more than 400 guests in attendance and sells out almost every year.
