CRR is hosting another memorable Party with a Purpose, themed Western Nights, benefiting Children's Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Cisneros Barn in Santa Maria (2750 Bull Canyon Rd.).

Enjoy Cocktail Hour at 5:30 PM and Dinner, Live Auction, and Music from 6 PM - 10 PM! Children’s Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County (CRR) has been a staple non-profit social service to low-income, at-risk, and foster children and families for 53 years in Santa Barbara County.

CRR's Heart to Home Resource Closet for foster children addresses a significant gap not addressed or otherwise funded. When children are removed from their homes and placed with a Resource Family in emergency foster care, they arrive with very little to nothing that is salvageable or that they can call their own. CRR believes that every child should have their own “First Night Away” bag, this includes diapers, wipes, a jacket, a car seat, pajamas, a blanket, clothing, and a stuffed animal of their own. The Heart to Home Resource closet, supplying foster children with the necessary comfort items to help the child and resource family navigate those first vulnerable days. Beyond just meeting physical needs, this also helps to build resiliency within the resource family home, equipping caregivers with the tools and resources they need to create a nurturing, healing environment for the foster children in their care. When a child enters the foster system, their whole world has been turned upside down - but thanks to the Heart to Home Resource Closet, they can be welcomed into a space that respects their inherent worth and humanity, providing them with the essential items and personal touches that can make all the difference in helping them feel safe, valued, and cared for. The ripple effects of this community-driven effort will be felt for years to come, as these vulnerable children and youth are empowered to overcome their challenges and build brighter futures. By providing essential everyday items as well as comforting personal belongings to children who have been placed in emergency foster care, these generous donors are offering a crucial lifeline to young people who are experiencing profound trauma and crisis in their lives. The resource closet serves as an intentional, dignified source of support, ensuring that these children have access to the basic necessities and small comforts that can help restore a sense of stability and normalcy during an incredibly tumultuous time.

Thanks to generous donations, CRR has provided nearly 600 children with the necessities to transition more comfortably.
