Dear Friend,
Please allow us to introduce ourselves: we are Buffalo Underdogs Rescue and we pride ourselves on being an all-breed dog rescue in Western New York. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and 100% of the money we raise goes towards the rescue and care of our Underdogs.
Since BUR’s beginning in January of 2018, we have rescued almost 1200 dogs. We are committed to traveling to Texas monthly to transport dogs at risk of euthanasia back to the Buffalo area. We also pull dogs from the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter, the Niagara SPCA, and take in local dogs from owners who can no longer care for them. All of our dogs are placed into loving foster homes, while they rest, recover and get ready to find their forever families.
BUR also takes the health of our dogs very seriously. We pay for all vetting and medical expenses to ensure our Underdogs become “Topdogs”. Unfortunately, that often means expensive heartworm treatment. We have treated 68 Underdogs for Heartworm. 8 of those are being treated right now to rid them of this easily preventable, but deadly, disease. Heartworm can cost between $500 - $1500 to treat, and oftentimes there are complications. But we truly believe these Underdogs, that were failed and then abandoned by humans, deserve saving, no matter the cost.
We are writing to ask for your help with fulfilling our mission. We are busy preparing for several 2023 fundraising events including our: Pasta for Pups dinner and basket raffle on April 1st, as well as several other fundraising events that will take place later in 2023. All great opportunities to promote the small businesses in our area, while also raising the funds we need to save more deserving dogs in 2023 and beyond. We are currently seeking donations of goods and/or gift certificates to be used as raffle prizes and incentives at each event. As well as food/beverage donations.
We cannot continue to rescue these special dogs without the support and generous donations from members of our community. A tax deductible receipt for your donation will gladly be emailed to you upon request, and the name of your business will be displayed during event promotion on our popular Facebook page, Instagram, and website. Donations may be mailed to the address below; or we would love the opportunity to stop in to your business and introduce ourselves. Please contact us to make arrangements for donation pickup.
