Description

The annual Duck Derby Festival (DDF) is held each April, during Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, and is one of the Child Safety Center’s most important events. DDF aims to raise awareness about the reality of child abuse in our community and funds for the work the Center is doing to fight it. The event typically enlists the help of more than 30 volunteers and aims to secure sponsorships from at least ten local businesses. The typical fundraising goal is $10,000-$15,000

The event typically features a free festival for children and families with games and prizes, a children’s fun run, live music, bounce houses, shaved ice, food, desserts, and the Duck Derby. At the derby, rubber ducks race to the finish line and the winning ducks receive prizes ranging in value from $1,000 to $10 respectively. Other event components, such as a colors wars, dance recital and other community events are present. Local chidrens orgainzatiosn come and run the festival games and promote healthy safe spaces for Chidlren in our community.
