Description

With your support, we can continue to make memories matter.

Plans are well underway for The Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation’s 28th Annual Alzheimer Golf Classic at Peninsula Lakes Golf & Country Club on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.  The tournament is dedicated to the memory of our late Chief Executive Officer and  has raised in excess of $850,000 to date, with proceeds directed to improving the quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, as well as their care partners, living within the Niagara Region.

One of the largest counseling chapters in Canada, the mission of the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region (ASNR) is to advocate for people with dementia and their care partners, and to provide access to a diverse range of appropriate resources and supports.  Our goal is to enhance safety and independence within the home and community, strengthen resilience and coping capacity, and ensure that people living with a dementia continue to participate in family and community life for as long as possible.

Here in Niagara, we have a unique challenge:  we have one of the highest percentages of seniors per capita in Canada and yet we lack the available geriatric resources compared to other communities.  Currently, there are over 10,000 people in Niagara who are experiencing a progressive dementia and by 2021, this number is expected to increase by 61%.

Always well-supported by dignitaries, individuals and businesses across the Region, this fun-filled day begins with the driving range, lunch starting at 11:00 a.m., followed by a shot gun start at 12:00 p.m.  After a great day of golf with many contest holes for cash and prizes, participants enjoy dinner followed by the opportunity to bid on a great selection of gifts in the live and silent auctions.

Would you consider making a donation to our Silent Auction?  We can assure you that this tournament will be well supported by business men and women from Niagara and the Hamilton-to-Toronto corridor, and provides a solid marketing opportunity.  As a valued partner, your corporate signage will be used at the Auction and in the Programme that is given to all participants.

Thank you  for your consideration of support for this exciting annual event.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at (905) 687-6856, ext. 562 or at wnasmith@alzheimerniagara.ca  if you have any questions or concerns.   Our charitable number is 106705361RR0001.
