The Vooreesville Pick-a-Reading-Partner (PARP) Read-a-thon is a month-long event in our elementary school grades K-5. Students are asked to read with a partner of their choice for 20 minutes for 26 out of 31 days in March 2024. 

The program focuses on building healthy reading habits by encouraging daily reading. It also works to promote family togetherness, a celebration of literature, and the joy of reading. 

This year's school-wide theme is Be a Reading Sleuth. Students will be encouraged to find and read books that vary in genre and style. Additionally, the school will record a video each week of a mystery reader in disguise sharing a picture book. Students can watch the video at home and count this as part of their reading time. Students will get a chance to guess who the mystery ready is and submit their guess on their reading log. On the last day of the month the mystery reader will be revealed at a school-wide assembly where they take off their disguise and reveal themselves for one last story.
