YWCA Durham is a not for profit charity organization located in Oshawa. On June 22nd, 2024 we will be hosting a new fundraising event in partnership with the Ironworkers Local 721 Union and Motorcycle Club. All proceeds of this event go toward our Y’s WISH Shelter, a safe haven for women and children victims of violence.

 Riders register and travel on their bikes to 4 stops in a Poker Ride, collecting a playing card at each stop; at the end of the run, the rider with the best poker hand wins. Riders will pay a registration fee to take part, all funds go directly to our shelter.

 We are asking community members for support by donating a silent auction item/ gift-in-kind. No item is too small to contribute to raising funds for our essential Y’s WISH Shelter.

 Agenda for the Day

9:00 a.m. Registration starts in the parking lot of our property at 1 McGrigor Street (McGrigor and Simcoe)

10:00 a.m. kickstands up! Ride begins.

1:30 p.m. Gathering at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 (471 Simcoe St S) with silent auctions and a chance to win prizes.

 Your contribution helps us continue to help vulnerable women and children impacted by violence. We fundraise in order to offer six extra bed spaces at our Y’s WISH Shelter that are completely UNFUNDED. Even with those extra bed spaces we, unfortunately, have to refer hundreds of women to other services every year because intimate partner violence is an epidemic.
