On behalf of the board of directors and staff of the Wood County Museum & the Wood County Historical Society, we are reaching out to ask for your support of our annual Poor Farm Palooza Fundraiser.  This event will benefit our education programs, collections preservation and help us continue our mission of promoting stories of Wood County, Ohio and its County Poor Farm - connecting memories of the past to the present while facilitating an informed future. 

The Wood County Museum is proud to offer educational programs and entertaining events to all ages throughout the year. Beyond that, the Museum highlights an important part of our collective history by telling the stories of the poor, elderly, and the disabled as one of the few remaining original county poor farms. This year the Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and also opening two exhibits. The first will be a permanent display “For Service & Support” to tell the histories of the county infirmary’s disabled residents; this was their home many years ago. The second exhibit which will run for two years: “We’ll Meet Again: Remembering WWII” will display artifacts, uniforms, and histories from the war as told through the eyes of folks from northwest Ohio. We are excited for these exhibits, programs, and our 50th year!

These wonderful exhibits and programs are the results of staff and volunteers’ hard work AND the generosity of our sponsors & supporters. It is with this in mind that we are requesting an auction item/basket or experience-based donation.  We would love to include an item or experience from your organization for our Poor Farm Palooza Fundraiser online auction this year. We are asking that donations be sent by June 2, 2025.  The online silent auction will run June 11 to 18th, 2025.
