Description

We invite you to support our mission and become a sponsor of the 2024
PRISMS 12th International conference. PRISMS, an acronym for Parents and
Researchers Interested in Smith-Magenis syndrome (SMS), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing information and support to families of persons with SMS.

Smith-Magenis syndrome is a rare neurobehavioral disorder characterized by a
recognizable pattern of physical, behavioral, and developmental features. It is
caused by particular genetic changes on chromosomal region 17p11.2, which
contains the gene RAI1. It occurs in between 1 out of every 15,000 to 25,000
births. The number of individuals diagnosed with SMS has increased in recent
years due to better diagnostic tools, however the syndrome likely remains under
diagnosed.

PRISMS will host its 12th International Conference in Dallas July 11th–13th, 2024.
It is the largest conference specifically focused on Smith-Magenis syndrome in the
world. Over 300 people, including 167 first-time attendees and representing 35
states and six countries attended in 2022. This educational and family support
multi-day event is a critical service for our rare SMS community. With more than
35 sessions on topics ranging from sibling support and behavior strategies to
research updates from leading experts in SMS, there is no shortage of information
for attendees to access.

The conference is a vital part of ensuring that all SMS individuals, their loved
ones, and the professionals who work with them receive the resources, support
and research that is instrumental in serving this community.

PRISMS has been noted as the “go-to” resource for parents, caregivers, and
professionals in supporting individuals with SMS. Our community is open to
everyone and includes individuals from countries all around the world.
Regardless of the sponsorship you choose, your donation will help support our
mission and allow PRISMS to provide an engaging and memorable experience for
our conference attendees.
