Description

We would like to invite you to be a part of Racing for Rett 5K 2022. This event is a 5K Run/Walk & Silent Auction to support a cause we are all extremely passionate about!  Our family is proud to host Racing for Rett on October 8, 2022 at the Harrisonville City Park in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Our daughter, Quinn, is 10 years old and battles Rett Syndrome daily.  Racing For Rett is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization.  The organization was founded by our family 7 years ago. Racing For Rett is an 5K family run/walk and silent auction that raises money and awareness for Rett Syndrome. All funds will be distributed for research of Rett Syndrome. We are very passionate about raising funds for research to find a cure for Rett Syndrome and raising awareness for this debilitating disorder.  The 5K Run/Walk and silent auction will begin at 9 am on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Packet Pick-Up will occur Friday, October 7.
We will present awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Mens/Womens/11 & under categories. The silent auction will begin prior to the race and the winners will be announced shortly after the presentation of awards.

Racing For Rett helps individuals with Rett Syndrome and their families by raising awareness and funds for research.   As a mother of a daughter with Rett Syndrome, I am very passionate about this cause. Rett Syndrome is a very debilitating neurological disorder. This syndrome mainly affects girls. They live everyday life with some horrifying symptoms. Many girls suffer from seizures, swallowing problems, breathing problems, many are unable to walk, talk or purposefully use their hands. The important part to know is that each of these special angels are very smart and just need a voice and someone to advocate for them.

At our last event in 2019, we had approximately 190 participants and raised over $15,000 for research!  We are currently looking for donations for our silent auction.

Racing for Rett was founded to raise awareness and funds for researchers who are working feverishly on finding a cure for this disorder. Your contribution would help raise money and find the cure we are all hoping and praying for! Thank you for your consideration.

What is Rett Syndrome?
 Serious lifelong neurological disorder caused by random mutations in a gene (MECP2)
 Babies develop "normal" but begin to lose acquired skills between the ages of 1-3 years old
 Leading genetic cause of severe impairment - most cannot speak, walk or use their hands
 Many suffer from seizures, breathing problems, anxiety, feeding tubes, GI and orthopedic issues
 As prevalent as Cystic Fibrosis, ALS and Huntington's
 Rett Syndrome is a potentially REVERSIBLE disorder!

We are also doing an online auction this year leading up to event as well!
