St. Nicholas of Tolentine is a Catholic elementary school on the southwest side of Chicago.  On August 26, 2020, we rang the school bell for the 111th time to officially begin the school year.  Our school serves a predominantly Hispanic demographic in a lower income neighborhood.  100% of our students are currently receiving state subsidized lunch and breakfast every day.  Although our school lacks major financial resources, we are a vibrant community.  We employ a hardworking and enthusiastic faculty and the students at our school are thoughtful, resilient, and bright.  In this unusual new normal that the world finds itself facing, our school, faculty, staff, students, and families are working as a TEAM to keep everyone healthy, safe, and achieving great things.
 In a neighborhood that has had to meet and overcome some challenges, St Nicholas stands as a beacon of hope. It is a bright spot where students can safely learn, play, and become responsible teenagers.  Continuing to provide a quality education and haven for our students causes us to rely on our fundraising efforts. 
The families of this community believe in the value of education and are committed to St. Nicholas.  They support those people and companies who support us.  
The money we raise as a result of our fundraising efforts will be used to help supplement some of the additional expenses incurred in making the school safe and user friendly for our in-person and our remote learners, as well as continue to support our afterschool activities, which include tutoring and classes in art and other interesting ventures.
     St. Nicholas of Tolentine is a wonderful and successful school because we have a diverse and thoughtful student body, an amazing faculty and staff who truly care and are working hard to meet the challenges of this new school year, and parents who are invested in the success of the school and continue to move forward with us.
