The Visual Art Strand of the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Salem High School is hosting a fundraiser titled “Raku-B-Que” that includes a Ceramic Raku Firing, Dinner, Music, Art Show, and a Silent Auction. This is a large community event hosted at Salem High School with over 300 people in attendance. The Raku firing is a studnet experience where they use an outdoor kiln to fire and oxidize their glazed pottery work with an audience of those in attendance of the event. It's a unique experience for our students and our community where they are allowed to participate in the art making process and watch this dynamic firing process in person. Beyond the firing, students aso display their artwork for exhibition and we partner with our school's student lead catering team to provide a barbeque dinner for the event and we host a silent auction to support the visual arts initiatives in our academy.
