Description

Refugee Education & Adventure Challenge (REACH) refugee youth will be facilitating a Rules of War obstacle course to take visitors through a simulation learning experience that teaches about the importance of International Humantarian Law, particularly during wartime. The simulation exercise is facilitated in collaboration with the American Red Cross as part of its Youth Action Campaign initiative. The focus of this year's simulation is "cultural preservation." The refugee youth leaders will also provide their own personal perspectives regarding growing up in a conflict zone and the importance of preserving cultural monuments, natural landscapes, and objects for generations to come. In addition, REACH will be hosting a gear drive to solicit donations of used and new outdoor camping adventure gear to help towards our upcoming wilderness camping adventures throughout the summer months.

The event takes place outdoors in a local forest preserve where many people hike, bike, and enjoy a little bit of nature.
