On May 11th reading to Kids turns 25 years old! 

Our 25th Anniversary Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, 7 - 11pm at Santa Monica Bay Women's Club, 1210 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401 www.smbwc.org .

On behalf of the hundreds of children who participate in Reading to Kids' reading clubs each month, I am writing to request an auction or prize donation for our 25th Anniversary Party on May 11th, or for our Legendary Bingo night to be scheduled in the fall.  With every $20 you help us raise, Reading to Kids will provide 15 new books for kids in need!

Reading to Kids is an independent, grassroots organization that organizes volunteer-led reading clubs at Los Angeles area elementary schools on the second Saturday of every month.  Over the past 24 years, 24,025 volunteers have collectively accumulated more than 226,000 volunteer hours to a total attendance of 189,826 kids.  We have given away more than 246,000 books to children, parents, and teachers, and given 35,563 hardcover read-aloud books to our partner schools' libraries.

Our monthly reading clubs provide these children with the opportunity to hear great books come to life, and the new books we give them to take home after every club help them continue to discover the joy of reading on their own. At our May 11th 25th Anniversary, we expect to draw a huge crowd of volunteers, kids we have read to who have since grown into adults, and supporters who have been involved with us since 1999. All raffle, live auction, or silent suction donors are listed in the event program, appear on our website, and are displayed at the event.

Our Legendary Bingo nights at the famous Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood also always draw huge crowds, and all auction / prize donors are announced throughout the night. Proceeds from either event support the Reading to Kids monthly reading club program.

Your donation will help make these fundraisers huge successes for our organization, enabling us to continue our mission – to inspire underserved children with a love of reading, thereby enriching their lives and opportunities for future success.
