Red Carpet Poetry SLAM
A night when Poet-Athletes become stars. 

America SCORES Chicago's high-impact, high-dosage programming inspires youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world. Utilizing a curriculum developed, refined and validated by a national network of SCORES affiliates, we provide free after-school and summer programming that combines three equally fun, powerful activities: soccer, poetry and service-learning. Through these activities, Poet-Athletes across the south, west and southwest sides of Chicago learn to embody our core values teamwork, leadership and commitment.

Red Carpet Poetry Slam, America SCORES Chicago signature event, takes place on the evening of Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Adler Planetarium. Highlights of this showcase evening include Poet-Athletes from elementary and middle school performing their own spoken-word poems and the special presentation of our Calliope Award, honoring those who have used their voice, skill and resources to advance America SCORES' mission and to positively impact the communities we serve. Guests will enjoy food and cocktails among out-of-this-world exhibits in Adler Planetarium's main hall, while bidding on live and silent auction packages from Chicago’s most renowned restaurants, memorabilia from sports teams, exciting adventures and more.
