Description

Our school has decided to help in the battle against cancer by hosting a Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life event at Maxwell Heights Secondary School.

Relay for Life is a non-competitive event in which teams of 10 participants walk, run or stroll around a track to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society to support research and support programs for people living with cancer.

Relay for Life brings together students, teachers, family members and friends to celebrate cancer survivors with a Survivor's Victory lap and to honour the memory of loved ones with a special Luminary Ceremony.

Our event will take place on Tuesday June 3, 2025, but our planning and fundraising initiatives have commenced.

Over the years we as a school community have raised $125,000 dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society. We would love nothing more than to continue to support this wonderful organization. As such, we are hoping to obtain donations from our community members to help us run this meaningful event. Any contribution you make will be greatly appreciated as we will put those contributions towards raffles, draws, or the event itself! Examples of our past donations have included: food, beverages, gift cards, cosmetics, sportswear, and monetary donations. If you can help us with this worthwhile venture to empower these amazing young people and make this event more memorable for our participants and our survivors, we would appreciate your contributions.

Thank you for your consideration. If you can donate, please let Violet Nave know at violetta.nave@ddsb.ca or 905 440 4472, and we can arrange for a pick up at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,
