Royal Family Kids Gala
Gala/Party for For the Children/ Royal Family KidsMar 26, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Royal Family Kids Gala will be held on March 26th at Roma Lodge Banquet Hall. This will include a sit down dinner, silent auction and guest speaker, Wayne Tesch, Founder of Royal Family Kids Camp. All proceeds for the dinner and silent auction will go to support Racine Royal Family Kids Camp and Club. The Camp is a week long summer camp for children that have been abandoned, abused and neglected, the majority of which are in the foster system. The Club runs throughout the school year and is an extension of the camp for these children. Together they teach these children that they are loved, special, have a purpose and can trust adults.
Childhood trauma such as abuse, abandonment and neglect greatly increases the following:
Academic failure
Teenage pregnancy
Substance abuse
Sex trafficking
Homelessness
Incarceration
Prison
In order to help a child recover from abuse and neglect, intervention must go both deep and wide. Five days of immersion at camp goes deep and breaks barriers — our mentoring programs go wide. Dependable, monthly contact with the same, safe adults is vital.
Research shows that children who are in mentoring programs, such as Royal Family Kids Camp and Club are:
- 59% more likely to earn better grades
- 52% less likely to skip school
- 81% more likely to participate in extracurricular activities
- 90% more likely to volunteer in their own communities
- 130% more likely to hold leadership positions
