The annual regional Pride Prom is an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ youth to celebrate their authenticity, learn about affirming resources in the area, connect with crisis counselors for a moment of calm and sensory regulation, and become empowered to make change in their communities and their country. While the last decade has seen an increase in anti-gay and anti-trans propoganda and legislation, the 2024 election resulted in the greatest increase of suicidal ideation since 2016. Now more than ever queer and trans youth need to be surrounded my those who recognize their validity, respect their authenticity, honor their value, and want them to survive and thrive.
