Description

The 2nd Annual San Diego Fire Rescue 5K & Kid's Run will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Embarcadero Marina Park South. The event will feature a 5K, Kids 1-Mile Run, Sparky Sprint for kids 3-5, and a fire safety expo.

The 5K will start and end at Embarcadero Marina Park South, on a beautiful course highlighting the best of the Downtown waterfront. Participants will enjoy views of the San Diego Bay, Coronado Bridge, Embarcadero Marina, Seaport Village, and the Midway Aircraft Carrier.

The kids runs are designed to offer a family-friendly activity, while encouraging the importance of health and fitness in a fun, non-competitive environment.

The fire safety expo will launch San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s annual Fire Prevention Week activities. Activities at the Expo include: a junior firefighter obstacle course, SDFD demonstrations, photos with Sparky the Fire Dog, CPR/AED training by San Diego Project Heartbeat, fire apparatus, and more.

Confirmed community partners: SDFD, San Diego Project Heart Beat, SDG&E, AMR, San Diego Padres, Unified Port of San Diego, CERT San Diego, Burn Institute.

Media Partner: iHeartMedia

100% of the net proceeds from this event directly support the mission of the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation to provide San Diego first responders with funding to support enhanced equipment, training, technology, and community education resources that will allow them to better protect the citizens, property and environment of San Diego and the surrounding region from the ravages of fire, natural disasters, and unforeseen injuries and illness.
