Thank you for taking the time to review our auction donation request.  We know a gift certificate from you would be a highly sought after item at the auction!


Aurora is a small K-8 independent school in Oakland’s Upper Rockridge neighborhood.  Our mission is to nurture students' love of learning by cultivating academic excellence, emotional intelligence, and social engagement.  We understand the importance of educating the hearts and minds of our students.  We believe that academic excellence is most effectively achieved in an environment where students feel safe and supported.  For that reason we implement social-emotional learning throughout our curriculum.  For thirty-five years, we have seen the value of this approach in cultivating self-awareness, relationship skills, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making.  Academic excellence, joy of learning, inclusivity, and a commitment to social justice are at the heart of our school culture.


Our auction will take place on March 22nd, 2025.  This is our first in person auction since Covid.  We aim to create an event that will bring our community together and raise money to support the school through a live and silent auction.  Tuition alone does not cover what it actually costs to teach each child.  The money raised through the auction helps spark learning and creativity in our students by opening up professional development opportunities for our teachers, keeps STEM, woodshed, music, and art programs running, and provides for those who otherwise might not have the means to attend Aurora. Our goal is to raise $25k.


The expected headcount for the event will be 150-200 guests.  We will hold the event at the Claremont Social Club which is a small craftsman style house in the Berkeley/Oakland hills border.  The event will start at 6pm with apps and drinks.  This will be followed by a square dance to help loosen up the guests and break the ice.  After the square dance we will have the live auction which will be followed by dinner, dessert, and more music.


We will thank all donors through shoutouts in our weekly newsletter which goes out to our entire community, signage at the event, and on our social media.
