Each year, Shelter Sunday Amherst raises money to support the most vulnerable members of our community: those struggling with housing and food insecurity. Sunday, October 15th, 2023, marks our 34rd year of fundraising for this vital cause. Shelter Sunday is Amherst's largest single-day fundraiser to reduce homelessness and hunger.

Because of the local and national housing crisis, we expect to see an increase in the need for our services as winter approaches. The two organizations that will benefit this year will be Craig’s Doors, which provides emergency shelter and housing-focused case management, and CHD's Not Bread Alone, which provides family-style meals in a nurturing environment to individuals in our community.

This year, we're excited to announce that Shelter Sunday will be held in person at our first inaugural Shelter Sunday Community Celebration! This family-friendly event will feature food, games, activities, live music, raffles, and a silent auction. All proceeds from the event will benefit the over 200 unhoused individuals that Craigs Doors cares for annually, along with the hundreds of families who receive nourishing community meals through Not Bread Alone.
