Description

I'm out to seek your ongoing support for a cause that holds immense significance.

Friends of SMEC, also known as PSILL, operates as a 501(c)(3) agency committed to providing financial assistance to enhance the services offered to children and adults with disabilities. Their reach extends to New Bedford, Fairhaven, Acushnet, Dartmouth, Old Rochester, Marion, Fall River, Mattapoisett, Lakeville, and Freetown. As a proud supporter, I hope to encourage you to join this cause as well.

Initially formed to aid individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving independent living, Friends of SMEC now supports students and consumers across all SMEC programs. The Board of Directors, primarily comprising parents of students and consumers, regularly convenes, arranges informative sessions, and organizes fundraisers throughout the year. The funds raised play a pivotal role in assisting SMEC's students and adults in various ways, such as providing interest-free loans for those transitioning into independent living, covering expenses for work and community activities, funding chaperones for young adults on trips, supporting field trips, and procuring classroom equipment.

Due to the current financial climate, many of the activities and items funded by Friends of SMEC would not be accessible otherwise. A significant event in their fundraising calendar is the 26th annual Benefit Dance scheduled for Friday, 3/22/2024, at Kilburn Mill. This event, including a silent auction and drawing for various prizes, is the agency's major fundraiser of the year.

Friends of SMEC would be immensely grateful if you could contribute a gift or gift card for inclusion in the drawings and/or auction. All donors will be acknowledged in the evening's printed program.

Additionally, the organization is selling ads for the Dance Program. You have the option to purchase more than one ad, either for businesses or to send a personal message to a loved one. Ad sizes and prices are $25 for 1/4 page, $50 for a half-page, $100 for a full-page, and a $200 Table Sponsor option. The Table Sponsor option includes featuring your logo as a sponsor at the Event and inclusion in the ad program book.

For inquiries about the dance, contributing a gift, making a donation, placing an ad, or volunteering for Friends of SMEC, please contact Sherri Tetrault at (508) 717-1932. All funds raised will directly support SMEC's students and individuals, with no administrative overhead costs or salaries involved, as all individuals associated with Friends of SMEC are volunteers.

Tickets for the dance will be available shortly, and it is hoped that you will attend. On behalf of the Collaborative and the Friends of SMEC, your consideration and support are truly appreciated. Thank you for supporting the agency and demonstrating pride in our wonderful children and adults.

Warm regards,

Sherri Tetrault | 501c3 #31-1612034
