The Keilan Movement, named after then 13-year old Keillan Allen who was killed by gunshots fired outside of his home as he sat in his bedroom on his IPad. Also known as Parents Against Guns (PAG), The Keilan Movement is an anti-gun violence intiative. This program targets the stigmas that surround gun death in children and young adults to subsequently eradicate the leading cause of death of youth in Alabama and the US. PAG's launch will be spearheaded with a Basketball Tournament dubbed Shoot Hoops Not Guns. Held in the month of June, Gun Vilocence Awareness Month, Shoot Hoops Not Guns Basketball Tournament is an event held with the purpose of bringing community awareness to gun violence and its contributing factors, facilitating a positive environment for community and family fellowship, while also raising money to fund PAG's projects.
Donors will register to play in teams of 3 against each other until one team is left standing. Partnering organizations and other family resources will also be on site to offer relevant information and resources to neighbors in the community.
The winning team will win prizes donated by supporting companies and individuals.
