Open Door School is a nonprofit, non-sectarian preschool founded in 1966. We were one of Charlotte’s first integrated preschools and was the first preschool program in Charlotte-Mecklenburg to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Open Door School encourages the enrollment of children of all races, religions, economic levels, ethnic origins, and special needs. We respect each child’s uniqueness and dignity which is why it is our mission to help children grow into self confident, ethical members of society.

To further this aim, Open Door School provides financial aid to families who need it. On March 28, 2020 we will be holding our annual Silent Auction and it is our hope that you will assist us by donating a product, gift certificate, or service to be used towards our largest fundraiser of the year. Your generous gift will help provide financial assistance so that any child within our community may attend this unique, progressive education program regardless of their economic level.
