Songs of Our Sirens:

A Tribute to PNW Womxn Musicians

A Night of Live Music on Saturday November 20th at the Moore (depending on COVID precautions)

and Limited Edition LP and online auction

to Support Medical, Dental, & Mental Health Services for Local Musicians.

SMASH supports a vibrant music scene in our region by investing in the health and well-being of our local musicians. SMASH provides limited income musicians access to free and low-cost medical, dental, and mental health services.

Music is a vital artform. It tells our stories, both personal and of the era we are living in. It connects us and brings our community together. Our region is home to some of the greatest musicians of all time – trailblazers who have transformed the industry nationally and globally.

By providing a health and well-being safety net in a city and region artists are struggling to afford to live in, we show that we really do care about the art of music, and that we need our musicians to remain a part of our local music scene.

Through our fundraising events, we showcase the incredible talent in our region – reinforcing our mission to support a vibrant local music scene. We ask musicians that have succeeded to lift up the voices and talent of up-and-coming musicians, creating unique collaborations that have blown away our audiences year after year. SMASH puts a strong focus on racial and gender equity, and that focus had incredible results during our Songs of Hope virtual concert in 2021.

This year, as we emerge from the pandemic, we are playing tribute to the incredible womxn musicians in our region in an event called: Songs of Our Sirens. We are planning for a live event at the Moore on Saturday November 20th, as well as a limited-edition vinyl LP.

We are looking to get musicians from all corners of our music scene to collaborate and play tribute to artists from the last century - from 30s swing to today's brightest beacons. The following is our working list of musicians we are interested in playing tribute to - this list may grow or reduce as the event comes into focus.

Mildred Bailey // Ernestine Anderson // Heart // BAM BAM // The Gits // Fastbacks  Hammerbox // Hole // Bikini Kill // Le Tigre // Team Dresch // NighTrain // Tacocat

Neko Case // Gossip // THEESatisfaction // Sleeter-Kinney // Fly Moon Royalty // Brandi Carlile

We are partnering with Quiet Pterodactyl/Situation Chicago to put out the limited-edition LP titled Situation Seattle: Songs of Our Sirens.  Quiet Pterodactyl is the non-profit behind Situation Chicago, who are just releasing their second fundraising LP for venues/venue workers in Chicago. They sold out of their first fundraising LP, hence the second edition and their desire to branch out and support other cities to raise funds for their music community.

Other partners include:

·         Ben London & Black Fret, another local non-profit that supports local musicians, to help curate the talent.

·         Eric Lilavois from London Bridge is again overseeing the engineering and producing of the recorded audio.

·         STG/The Moore supports us as a venue host and sponsors some of the venue fees.
