Why donors want to participate

The supporters of the M.K. Gandhi Institute are local changemakers and leaders of all ages. We are passionate about the work and dedicated to the causes of racial justice, environmental sustainability, nonviolent communication and restorative practices. We have 40+ donors who give $500 or more to the Institute annually and they will be present at this event which is both a fundraiser and a celebration of the Institute's work. 

About the Gandhi Institute

Our mission is to help individuals and communities develop the inner resources and practical skills needed to achieve a nonviolent, sustainable and just world. Donor support has enabled the Gandhi Insttitue to facilitate 5,328 student conversations, host 136 events and workshops, connect 40 families through the community garden and neighborhood food share program, and train 2,330 youth and adults in nonviolence.

This year’s event will feature local leader and friend of the Institute, Dr. Rashid Muhammad. There will be fun activities, delicious food from Philomina’s, and opportunities to engage with beautiful souls in Rochester and beyond!

This event is intended to raise money to fund the Gandhi Institute’s mission, and we value all support from our community. We use sliding-scale pricing in our public workshops to be inclusive and accessible, so we mirror this effort in fundraising.

These prices reflect the base cost of the event, the cost for the institute to organize, and the donations needed to support our mission and meet the event’s goal of raising 10,000! We hope these price points will allow us to engage in this hopeful night and help meet our financial needs.
