As a CPS magnet school, we embody Chicago's diversity and serve as a bridge to academic excellence for all students, including our 38% low-income families, 18% diverse learners, and 8% Limited English learners.

The gap between the Chicago Public School’s budget and our school’s needs grows yearly. Friends of Thorp was formed as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by Thorp's parents to fundraise to bridge that gap in funding.
