WeCAN (Western Communities Action Network), is a small but mighty community nonprofit that provides support services to empower and equip individuals and families to reach stability and self-sufficiency. For over 35 years, WeCAN has served low-income residents in the 12 cities of far western Hennepin County and acts as a safety net when people are in crisis and have nowhere else to turn. WeCAN is mainly supported by individual donations, family foundations and assistance from community groups.

We are excited to host Spring Fest 2025 on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Pique Event Center in Excelsior. Our event will include food, beverages, live music, silent auction, and program to showcase the important work we do in our community. We are seeking a donation for our silent auction.

WeCAN’s four core services include:

• Emergency Assistance to keep families and individuals in their homes with a one-time payment for rent, mortgage, or utilities.

• Food Support Programs to nourish clients with healthy foods through Meals on Wheels, a Mobile Market food shelf, and the Kids’ Food Program.

• Employment & Budget Programs to equip and educate clients to be self-sufficient. We provide job counselors to assist in resume writing, job searches and interview skills. Budget classes enhance financial literacy and planning for our clients.

• Family Support Programs to help families stretch their budgets. Through community in-kind donations we distribute school supplies, holiday and birthday gifts, winter gear, personal care, and household products.
