Description

To Whom It May Concern:
The Mozelle Brown Elementary School PTO is currently planning our Spring
Fundraising Event. We will be selling raffle tickets for various items and we will have a
drawing on Friday, April 12th at our annual Family Night. This will be our third annual
Raffle Fundraiser. Last year our raffle was a huge success and we are hoping to make
this year’s even better!
Brown Elementary is a Title 1 school and our current enrollment is approximately 600
students. A Title 1 program provides supplemental funds to school districts to assist
schools with the highest student concentrations of poverty to meet school educational
goals. To qualify to be a Title 1 school there must be 40% or more children who are
considered economically disadvantaged - our school is currently at 65% of students that
are economically disadvantaged.
While Title 1 funds cover some of the expenses for our school, they do not cover all of
the expenses it takes for our students to have a fun, educational, and successful year.
That is where PTO funds become vital. To keep the burden of additional expenses off of
our student’s families, PTO raises funds that go directly back to our school. Funds are
raised to cover 100% of the cost of:
- Educational Field Trips for all students in all grades
- The Backpack Program which provides nutritional meals to students who are identified
as needing meals for the weekend and over school holidays
- Additional student needs such as clothes, shoes, school supplies, etc.
- Providing money for lunch account overages so every child is fed every day
- Showing our Teachers appreciation by providing them periodic lunches, as well as
additional supplies they need, and also wish list fulfillments
- Field Day to give our students an all day outdoor activity event to get them moving and
celebrate the end of the year.
We are hoping that you will consider partnering with us by donating goods or services to
be used in our raffle. We very much welcome any support in this way from all types of
businesses or individuals. Thank you very much for your consideration in helping us to
continue to provide much needed services and support for our teachers and students.
Sincerely,
Kristin Hanover
