For over 47 years, The Foundation Schools has removed barriers in our students' lives to help them create brighter futures. As 100% are diagnosed with an emotional disability or autism and 80% live in poverty, they live with significant disadvantages that have only been further challenged by the pandemic. Housing insecurity, sudden job loss, and not having enough to eat at home: these are the crises our students endure. In 2021, The Foundation Schools created the Emergency Fund to provide relief for our students and families in need. Our Emergency Fund is 100% funded by our generous donors and this spring you can help more families in need by contributing an item to our April 24 - 28 Spring Virtual Auction! This exciting online event will give our students the security they need to come to school ready to learn.

The Foundation Schools serve over 300 students each school year from throughout the Washington, DC metro area. Our mission is to provide a highly specialized educational and therapeutic program for students identified with emotional disabilities, as well as those with social, emotional and learning challenges, preparing them to be lifelong learners. We operate four school campuses in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties and tailor our programs to meet each student’s individual needs.
