Description

St. Joseph Housing Initiative(SJHI)'s 7th Annual Raise the Roof is our signature benefit and main fundraiser.  There will be cocktails, a dinner, an event program, high end raffle and fund a need-- all to support SJHI's mission and work.

About SJHI:

As a faith-based organization, our mission is to create vibrant communities through affordable quality housing where low and moderate income families can thrive, prosper and build wealth.

St. Joseph Housing Initiative (SJHI) acquires and rehabs vacant and problem property houses to stabilize neighborhoods and facilitate pathways to homeownership for low to moderate-income families. Launched in 2018, the effort seeks to preserve the neighborhoods of St. Louis and reinvigorate them into diverse, sustainable areas where low and moderate-income can build wealth.

SJHI homebuyers must meet HUD guidelines for low and moderate incomes and participate in the homebuyer education program. Homebuyers are awarded a $5,000 loan from SJHI for cash at their closing that they do not have to return if they stay in the home for 5 years, building equity and relationships with the community.

In our first six years, SJHI has renovated and sold 13 homes to first-time homebuyers of low and moderate income, and we are currently renovating 5 more.  Prior to renovations, 16 of these homes were vacant.
