The Summer Learning Program is a series of free events and activities designed to foster a love of reading and to develop or enhance reading, writing, and learning skills. Summer Learning programs take place at all 8 public library locations in Cumberland County, PA, in June, July, and August while school is closed for the summer. Children who participate in summer learning programs not only perform better in the classroom and on standardized tests when they return to school in the fall, they also develop positive lifelong literacy habits like independent reading and visiting the local public library. In 2022, our libraries offered 1,514 programs with a total attendance of 26,443 children and youth. We are asking for a pair or family pack of passes to be used as a reward for a participant who achieves his or her summer reading goals.
