The Balch Springs Library-Learning Center is planning the 2025 Summer Reading Program titled “COLOR OUR WORLD!” with the focus being on arts and reading. This summer we are planning educational shows, as well as weekly crafts and activities to get children into the library to have fun experiences.

Statistics show that students who participate in summer reading programs do better in school than those who do not, so we are doing our part by planning activities to keep the children engaged and reading throughout the summer. Last year we had over 12,000 visitors to the Balch Springs Library during the months of June and July. Our participants read over 85,000 minutes last summer, which equaled over 5,600 pages.

Providing these services can be costly but you can help by donating. With the possible defunding of the Institute of Museum and Library Science, our federal funding resource has been suspended. This year, with the library’s limited funds, we depend on the generosity of organizations like yours to help us with the overall cost of this summer project.
