Description

Sundog Theatre is a 21 year-old Staten Island not-for-profit performing arts organization whose varied programming reaches over 10,000 adults and children yearly. Our upcoming annual benefit is October 19, 2023. We will honor five outstanding individuals within the Staten Island community who have supported educational and arts programs: Heather Butts, co-founder of H.E.A.L.T.H for Youths and developer of many community programs; Michael Pinto of the Minty Organization; Tom Ferrie and Kristin Wallace of MakerPark Radio; and Diane Zerega, long-time theatre director/teacher. We invite you to join us in honoring them and all they do for Staten Island by including your advertisement or sponsorship in our benefit journal.

Sundog has been just as active as our honorees. Please help support these programs:
120 educational programs in over 50 Staten Island schools and organizations:
--Enrichment and career skills for students through music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and
creative thinking to help lessons come alive and boost literacy levels through the arts.
School tours:
--Ellis Island: Gateway to a Dream, at schools and large tri-state venues--A historic
journey into immigration, plus a free companion 6-week in-school residency, “Cultural
Heritage”.
--Harriet Tubman Herself, Young Abe (Lincoln), and The Electricity Show.
Theatricalpresentations:
--A-Bridge-d History of Staten Island, a romp through Island history, and the
upcoming 2024 Clue, the Musical, both presented at Wagner College’s Stage One.
--The annual Scenes from the Staten Island Ferry, original plays about our favorite boats.
--The Originals Radio Plays presented in partnership with Staten Island’sinternet
streaming MakerPark Radio.
Acting classes:
--Acting and musical theatre classes for kids -- affordable for children ages 9 through
17 years. These boost confidence, collaboration, and presentation skills in young
people and help spark careers of budding Staten Island actors, directors, and writers.

Sundog’s programs are largely supported by grants and donations. The organization’s
growth requires funds to keep current programs afloat and affordable. As school arts
funding declines, many educators ask us to provide enriching experiences to supplement
traditional classroom learning. Without proper funding, our Staten Island community
(especially its students) suffers.
