Description

Sunnybeam School holds its bi-annual auction to help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and operating expenses, ensuring tuition remains affordable for families. Funds raised play a critical role in providing competitive salaries and benefits for our dedicated teachers, who are key to delivering a high-quality early education, while also supporting essential supplies for hands-on learning and creative play. Additionally, the auction helps cover the maintenance costs of our historic building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, ensuring it remains safe and functional for generations to come. Without this vital fundraising effort, Sunnybeam would not be able to maintain the exceptional standards and community-centered education it has provided for over six decades.

Sunnybeam School, a historic landmark on Mercer Island’s south end, has been a cornerstone of the community for over 67 years. Since its founding as a non profit school in 1957, Sunnybeam has provided the Mercer Island community a safe and nurturing learning environment focused on helping young children grow and develop social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills, along with a deep love of learning. With an emphasis on guided play, art, music, early literacy, drama and the outdoors, Sunnybeam students make friends and learn to interact creatively and inclusively with each other and the world around them. Supporting a local preschool like Sunnybeam not only ensures that children receive an exceptional education, but also builds the foundation for a thriving and connected community.

With over 25,000 people living and working on or near Mercer Island, the Sunnybeam Auction draws a diverse audience, including business leaders, community supporters, education enthusiasts and a host of Mercer Island parents and caregivers. Our community
of current and alumni families is dedicated to supporting local businesses and fostering a strong sense of community spirit.
