February marks Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, a month that recognizes the prevalence of relationship violence among youth: 1 in 3 teens will experience some form of dating or relationship violence. At Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments Inc. (SAVE), we provide safety, support, and resources for people to live free from Intimate Partner Violence and engage communities in the work to end violence.

Team Stronger Than You Think (STYT), our youth empowerment group made of high school students from the Tri-City area, is in the midst of planning our free, annual youth-only healthy relationship summit called Symbiosis. This event aims to bring awareness about teen dating violence and empower youth with healthy relationship skills to end the cycle of violence. This year’s theme, “Mosaic,” explores how our cultural background impacts our experience building healthy relationships. It will be hosted at the Fremont Downtown Event Center on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
