The annual Summer Reading Program at the West Warwick Library is a 7 week program geared towards children's and teens. The program is intended to prevent the summer slide which is a decrease in students reading abilities when school is not in session.  Since our library is in an urban community with 15.1% of families living in poverty, many of our patrons are not able to participate in summer enrichment opportunities.  For that reason, our program is completely free! Participants will register and create a reading goal for themselves. Each week the participants will log what they have been reading in order to get a raffle ticket for that week's special prize.  They can also obtain raffle tickets by attending library programs and for every BINGO they get on our reading themed BINGO cards. We hope to use the possible donations from this site as some of the weekly raffle prizes, which are incentives for the participants to work towards completing their reading goal.
