I am a volunteer for the Kansas School of Classical Ballet (SCB) in Overland Park, Kansas. Founded in 2011 by retired Kansas City Ballet principal dancers, Stefani Schrimpf and Juan Pablo Trujillo, SCB is a not-for-profit organization devoted to providing the finest training available to students interested in learning the art of ballet.  

Our annual school fundraiser, Tapas & Tutus, will be held on April 27, 2024, with expected 150-180 patrons in attendance. Tapas & Tutus is a casual evening where SCB can showcase our talented students, communicate our mission to prospective and current supporters, provide an entertaining evening for our guests, all while fundraising for special programs and projects for the school.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the SCB Scholarship Program. The scholarship program is based on merit and financial needs.  The program provides talented local and regional students, as well as international students, access to quality world-class training without financial burden to their families.  Our alumni are successfully dancing professionally in ballet companies in the US and Europe or continuing their training in college programs.  Since our inaugural year, SCB has awarded over $175,000 in scholarship/financial aid to students who would otherwise not be able to pursue their dream of dancing.

The goal for Tapas & Tutus 2024 is to raise $20,000 for the SCB Scholarship Program.  For the event, we are organizing themed baskets which will be raffled.  Please consider donating tickets, gift certificates or products to be included in the baskets. In appreciation, we will acknowledge your generous contribution on our social media platforms, in the event program, and will distribute your marketing material at the event.
