Taste of the Garden
Gala/Party for The Hunger Task Force of La CrosseAug 22, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A Taste of the Garden is fundraiser located at our Kane Street Community Garden. This fundraiser features local wine and beer tasting, garden inspired appetizers made by area chiefs, garden tours, a silent auction, and music. Funds raised during this event fight hunger in the La Crosse area through The Food Recovery Program and The Kane Street Community Garden.
The Food Recovery Programs distributed 1.5 million pounds last year to 114 hunger programs in La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon, Trempealeau, Houston, and Winona Counties. These programs including pantries, meal sites, and youth programs.
The Kane Street Community Garden grows and distributes over 30,000 pounds of organic produce. The produce grow at the garden is distributed free to the community during harvest nights. The purpose of the garden is to help ensure the community has access to free produce, to encourage increased nutrition especially in children, and to educate through workshops and hands on learning.
