I am a school counselor at a middle school in Sheboygan, WI. Working in education has really changed over the years, but one thing that has not changed is the dedication of our staff to make a difference and help students. Some days are extremely stressful and overwhelming. One of the things I do in my role is work to build staff morale. I do a variety of events throughout the year. The biggest event of the year is Teacher Appreciation Week. We spend an entire week in May honoring our entire staff for the work they do. One day during the week is our raffle day. On that day, along with snacks, I draw five names at the end of every hour until every one has been called. Once a name is called that adult comes to the Counseling Center and picks a prize. We receive donations from a variety of local businesses and use some of our budget to buy prizes. The school supplies baskets I put together are ALWAYS a hot commodity. .. even above free food!
