Description

Statistics show that approximately 1-in-2 men and 1-in-3 women in America will face cancer in their lifetime – a staggering fact. The Ted Williams Camp Alumni & Friends Jimmy Fund Benefit is dedicated to changing those odds and I write to invite you to join our fight against cancer by donating to our event, which supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s lifesaving mission to conquer cancer.

Ted Williams was one of the founding fathers of the Jimmy Fund but was also a co-founder of the Ted Williams Baseball Camp in Lakeville, Massachusetts.  The baseball camp operated from 1958-1986. Coaches from all around the country came and gave instruction, and Ted Williams himself was there a great deal teaching and guiding the young players. The camp served a wide range of campers from all across the country as well. After the camp closed, the town purchased the land but kept its identity intact.  The camp property and the activities that go on there now are overseen by the Lakeville Park Department. On July 16, 2022, we hosted a reunion at the lodge of the camp. Attendees included past Ted Williams Camp coaches and students, family members, former Red Sox players, and the local community.  Since 2018, we have doubled our fundraising goal each year and have been acknowledged at Fenway Park every fundraising year for our achievements thanks to all of our wonderful donors and sponsors.  We would like future reunions to have even more success.  We are a group of volunteers who adore the legacy of the camp and who want to do a good deed for the man who founded their beloved facility.  It is our hope that you will consider supporting the event and we can count on your commitment to help us attain our fundraising goal.  We appreciate your generosity and it and your company will be acknowledged in various forms.

Since 1947, Dana-Farber has been committed to one mission: providing adults and children with cancer with the best treatment available today while developing tomorrow's cures through innovative research. Your support will help bring us closer to a world without this disease.
